Bust of Ponca Chief Standing Bear Unveiled at Omaha Courthouse

On September 16, 2011 The Nebraska State Bar Foundation and The US District Court/ Nebraska held a ceremony to unveil a bust of Ponca Chief Standing Bear. The work of art will stand at the Roman L. Hruska Courthouse in Omaha as a symbol and a reminder of the Ponca Chief's quest for justice and the resulting decision that changed the legal status and future for all Native Americans.

In attendance pictured above are (L-R): Councilman James LaPointe, Tribal member Marguarite Madrigal, Councilman Bill Wright, Tribal members; Harley Upton, Nancie Valesquez and Katherine Albritton, and Chairwoman Rebecca White.


SchoolSupplyGrant

The Fred LeRoy Health and Wellness Center in conjunction with the Behavioral Health Program received a mini grant in the amount of $1,000 from Golden Living Center – Sorenson Location.  The mini grant was ear marked for school supplies for the youth in our Youth Program.  Angela Comstock purchased the items and the children who received the supplies were so excited and grateful to receive their new supplies!  On behalf of the Fred LeRoy Center we would like to thank Tanya Good and the Golden Living Center for submitting the grant on our behalf!
