Bust of Ponca Chief Standing Bear Unveiled at Omaha Courthouse

On September 16, 2011 The Nebraska State Bar Foundation and The US District Court/ Nebraska held a ceremony to unveil a bust of Ponca Chief Standing Bear. The work of art will stand at the Roman L. Hruska Courthouse in Omaha as a symbol and a reminder of the Ponca Chief's quest for justice and the resulting decision that changed the legal status and future for all Native Americans.

Chairwoman White Joins FEMA National Advisory Committee

On June 16, 2011 Ponca Tribal Chairwoman Rebecca White joined the FEMA National Advisory Committee (NAC). The NAC is comprised of state, tribal and local govermnents, private sector and non-governmental partners who advise and provide recommendations to the FEMA Administrator on the National Preparedness System, National Incident Management System, National Response Framework, FEMA grants programs and more. The Chairwoman was among the 16 new members who will serve from June 15, 2011 to June 15, 2014.
