SUMMARY

Responsible for the direction of all casino operations, which includes maintaining the facility’s operating license and ensuring compliance of all gaming regulations. To maintain positive and effective relations with Tribal, municipal, state and federal authorities on casino and gaming operations. To follow budgetary requirements and control expenses. To develop, train and manage staff to meet and exceed performance expectations in all facets of the casino operation.

ESSENTIAL JOB DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:

  • Directs all casino operations, which includes maintaining the facility’s operating license and enforcing gaming regulations; acts to protect company assets, as directed.
  • Manages and develops an effective staff: hires, trains, rewards, and disciplines staff. Develops staff to meet and exceed performance expectations by establishing and maintaining positive work morale and effective employee relations.
  • Supervises the management of staff in the following areas: casino operations and management, slot operations, food & beverage, security and marketing.
  • Manages property budget and control expenses within established fiscal constraints. Manages the budget, including all accounts receivable or payable, within established time constraints.
  • Manages staff in compliance with all Tribal, State and Federal Regulation and Internal Controls.
  • Directs staff in developing and maintaining effective working relationships and leading customer service skills with all customers and team members.
  • Responsible for maintaining a clean and safe work environment; performing duties in compliance with safety procedures, which includes use of safety equipment. Incumbents are responsible for following safety procedures, identifying unsafe practices or conditions and informing their supervisor or manager of unsafe conditions.
  • Ensures that all operations are properly staffed.
  • Ensures all casino equipment and the facility structure, is properly maintained through routine cleaning, service, maintenance and repair.
  • Performs, when necessary, as a back up to casino staff.
  • Performs other duties, including special projects, as needed and assigned.
  • Reviews departmental reports, addressing potential errors or misinformation.
  • Ensures a maximum level of service and satisfaction throughout the property, in the area of guest service is achieved and maintained.
  • Facilitates the flow of information, by organizing and presiding over regularly scheduled departmental meetings.
  • Serves as the leader of the Executive Operations Committee, organizing weekly status meetings.
  • Maintains the highest level of confidentiality.
  • Assist in other duties and projects as assigned.
  • Outstanding example of and a credit to the Ponca Gaming Enterprise.

SUPERVISORY RESPONSIBILITIES:   

Directly supervises all departments and management group; indirectly supervises the activities of all employees in all departments, as well as property-wide adherence to established policies, procedures, controls and laws regarding casino regulation.

Carries out supervisory responsibilities in accordance with the organization’s policies and applicable laws.

QUALIFICATION REQUIREMENTS: Demonstrated knowledge of casino operations.  Demonstrated knowledge of current casino marketing and player development practices and strategies. Demonstrated knowledge of business best practices including strategic development, planning and budgeting. Demonstrated effective and diplomatic customer service and communication skills, which includes contacts with employees, customers and Tribal Council, other tribal enterprises as needed and other regulatory officials.

EDUCATION AND/OR EXPERIENCE: Bachelor’s degree in business, hospitality or finance is preferred. Five (5) or more years of recent experience managing casino or related operations in a senior capacity.

LANGUAGE SKILLS: Demonstrated effective and diplomatic oral and written communication-using English.

 REASONING ABILITY: Makes recommendations, beyond the scope of essential duties, which may positively or negatively impact the operations of other departments. Ability to define problems, collect data, establish facts, and draw valid conclusions.  Ability to interpret an extensive variety of technical instructions in mathematical or diagram form and deal with several abstract and concrete variables.

CERTIFICATES, LICENSES, REGISTRATIONS: Must be able to secure a Gaming license from the Ponca Tribe of Nebraska. Must have a valid Driver’s License, with a good driving record and must be at least twenty-one (21) years of age.

PHYSICAL DEMANDS: Essential duties involve performing physical exertion: frequent brisk walking, climbing stairs, stooping, bending, stretching, reaching, pushing and standing for an entire work shift with standard breaks. Essential duties require lifting 50 or more pounds; and working a standard workweek with additional hours on a routine basis.

WORK ENVIRONMENT: Essential duties involve working with large numbers of people while primarily in an inside environment, which is frequently loud or containing high noise levels. Some inside locations are heavily filled with cigarette smoke.

MATERIALS EQUIPMENT DIRECTLY USED: Various general office equipment is used, including: typewriters, computers, photocopiers, staplers and tape.
