Starting in April 2018, the Centers for Medicare & Medicaid Services (CMS) will begin mailing new Medicare Health Insurance cards. This new card contains a unique, randomly-assigned number that replaces the current Social Security-based number. According to CMS the goal of this change is to remove Social Security numbers to help prevent fraud, combat identity theft, and safeguard taxpayer dollars.
When you receive your new Medicare card make sure you bring it with you for your clinic appointments so we can update our system and make sure to destroy your old card or bring it to any Ponca Tribe office and we will shred it for you.
